In Portugal and today, João Hipólito has been a fundamental pillar of the expansion of Roger's thought. This assumption has led Rogers to study, investigate and theorize about the effects of the type and quality of relationship in psychotherapeutic processes. One of the key ideas that we retained, and that goes against the current of the pairs of the time interested in psychological intervention, is the affirmation that the person is a totality, seen in the path of the ideas of philosophers such as Aristotle and Saint Thomas Aquino, with the approach to the individual essence being enhanced by the subjective understanding of what the person expresses as experience. The reading of this work allowed us to take a comprehensive tour of Carl Rogers' evolutionary journey, thanks to the careful description with which the author presented us, highlighting some of the experiences and choices that had a strong impact on personal determination and the construction of his conceptual flow.
